Breath break for fundraising organisations: tolerance period state registration number extended
Breath break for fundraising organisations: tolerance period state registration number extended
Good news for the fundraising sector!
The government has decided to extend the tolerance period for collecting the national register number (NN) for tax certificates by one year. Thanks to the joint efforts of the industry and the Impact Coalition, there will now be some extra breathing space to adjust your operation to the new obligations.
What does this mean concretely for your organisation?
For donations taking place in 2025 and the submission of tax certificates through Belcotax in 2026, the absence of the NN is not a problem. In other words, you get more time to get your processes in place.
What is best to do now?
While this extension is welcome, we recommend not to fall silent. Keep up the active work of collecting the national register numbers of your donors. The extra time will give you a chance to do so in a thoughtful and careful manner.
So continue your ongoing actions, keep communicating with your donors, and build a future-proof administration step by step.
Why is this good news?
This decision means less pressure and more time to optimise your internal processes. So you can work towards correct and complete registration of donor data in a calm, professional manner. And ultimately, this will ensure efficient handling of your tax certificates, with less stress and more confidence with your team and your donors.
